Salmon Run?

Hello

Any reports of the Salmon running close to Perth?

Going to Magaret River for the long weekend and was wondering whether its was worth packing the spinning gear?

cheers

Always worth it

Its still a bit early for the main run (if it happens) but you may pick up the odd resident fish, solid tailor, Skippy & big bull herring at this time of the year. Rather than wait for the fish to come to you as is the usual style for Salmon season I'd suggest some active exploration, that may be a little difficult on the Easter L.Wk end but it'll be the best way to maximize your chances, just remember your etiquette if someone is already at a spot.

Take some lures, float & traditional white plastic tubing - herring usually go nuts for this simple rig around here at this time of the  year. Good luck!

Went for a bit of a look last weekend on the west coast and there's salmon there but they wont take a bait because they're probably full of roe. Went to the Yeagerups on the last long weekend and caught a few but they're pretty small ( 2-3 kilo's ) but still some fun.

Thanks for the info Perry and Howard

Was hoping this cold front might bring up some cooler water by the weekend. I’ll be taking the some spinning gear and lures so should easily cover some water in numerous spots. Going up for the long weekend with the missus so unfortunately cant dedicate much time to the fish as I’d like!

No salmon along the capes. They might be at Rotto around the 15th of April but dont think inshore will be anything like the couple of bumper years that were had.
