Hmmm
Ok. Firstly I doubt you will chasing schools up and down the beach casting lures at them. That just ain't gonna happen in metro beach. That would be something you may do on a southwest beach when schools are passing through. But you never know but unlikely. I would be getting there as early as you can. If you have a couple of rods I would try putting a live herring out under a ballon if conditions allow you to or on the bottom with a big sinker. Then I would be using Mullies like you were fishing for tailor on the other rod.
have a lure ready in case you do see a school but I would think you would have more chance on the baits. Hope you get one mate and glad to hear you got your rod back

You most likely wont see any
You most likely wont see any schools mate, if theres fish there they'll probably be in small numbers, 4 or 5 fish together. Best way to find them is just walk the beach casting a metal slice as you go.
Bare in mind Secret Harbour is a popular surf and swim beach and gets quite busy on weekends.
Maybe try Golden Bay, Singleton or Madora. All 3 are surf beaches but wont be as busy as Secret Harbour

as said above, have a live
as said above, have a live herring out under a balloon (if winds permit) not too far out mind! and soak a mulie in a gutter near by, also have a rod rigged with a trusty lure that you know will entice,
if the herring starts to get skitish have a mate or yourself ready with the lure to cast around ( not on top of !) the herring and you may end up with a double hook up.
most schools through there wil be small and moving fast so you may see one or two in a passing wave and then they are gone.
but the live herring and the mulie wil leave you open to other species lurking around.
all the best mate hope ya get into a few metro!

White Hills
was down at White Hills yesterday and they were being caught all along the beach. We managed to land 2 in short time not far out on mulies and had quite a few chase lures. Good size 4-6kg and middle of the day
