Saltiga lever drag 2 speed 35 gear noise?

 hi everyone,

In the throws of putting together a new combo for bottom fishing.

I have just purchased a Saltiga LD35 two speed. My only concern is that in high speed it seems to have alot of gear noise, where as in low speed it doesn't seem anywhere near as noisy.

I purchased it from my local tackle store brand new and I alway get great service there and would always recommend them to others.

I took it back and they checked with some other stores to see if they had the same reel in stock and asked if it had the same noises ( and it did)

My mate Bodie who i regularly fish with has the same reel however his was nowhere near as noisy even though it has been used around 6-8 times now.

so my main question is do others have the same reel with a similar type of gear noise in high speed?

or have you looked at or heard of a particular issue with these reels that can cause the issue?

as i said the store I bought it from are more than willing to exchange the item for either another reel or another product. They always do the righty to ensure their customers are happy.

I really just want to find out if others have had a similar problem with the new Saltiga lever drag 2 speeds?

what sort of noise is it? i have a saltist ld 2 speed and it has a sort of fizzing noise when you wind fast in high speed.
i would say theres only something wrong if theres a clicking noise.

 Thanks guys

The noise is like when you wind up one of those wind up torches.

It is a fairly distinct noisy where you can tell that 2 gears are very tightly meshed together.

Like a fizzing sort of noise as you mentioned

When u say that you and your dads reels have had no problems.

Do you mean that your reels do make a similar noise in high speed and you have had no issues with mechanical failure?

Or dou you mean that neither of your reels make the same type of noise at all?

being sorted as we speak

heard back from the tackle store. As I mentioned their servie is second to none.

Seems to be a minor problem with it from the factory.

certainly no hard feelings from my end, I would rather have the issue addressed now than have a problem later on down the track.

thanks for all of your input and thanks heaps to the guys at the tackle store to making it a priority of rectifying for me so quickly

ended up going the Shimano option instead

decided that i still wasn't too thrilled with the noise that the gears seem to make on the Saltiga lever drag 2 speeds.

ended up going for a Talica 12 II speed instead

Now just gathering together some new bits (reel seat, grips ect) and pimping out the interline rod a bit and it should be a goer within a few months.
