Sambos - or lack thereof

HEaded out past Rotto today (very game but conditions were actually ok) with the intention of putting a mate on to some sambos. To cut a long story short, there seems to be a distinct lack of schools yet - did I just miss them, or are they still further out? We tried around the 100mark and the 110 in spots from last year but nothing much on the sounder. Anyone had any luck, wish to PM me if you don;t want to publicly share. Thanks. I was getting some good ambos and YTK's off these spots 2 months ago, but they seem devoid of life at present.

The young fella I took out

The young fella I took out is one of my managers, and I really just wanted to put him onto something to make him piss, and Sambo jigging is good for that. He did get a few good queenie's and he was stoked.
Having seen him in action on them I am actually pretty happy he didn't hook a good sambo. His best fish before that was a flatty from the shore.

I reckon

I reckon everythings a month behind this year.  Well it is up here anyway.  But the mullas always used to turn up/bite more before the sambos down there (Oct - Nov) then the skippy came on hard and then the sambo's in big numbers.  Wouldn't suprise me if they came on just before Chrissy and went hard over new years.

The last couple of seasons have been a little bit later.I think there will be a lot more sharks this year as well .The tuna and mackies are a little late as well.A few tuna around now but only small pockets, last year the ocean was bubbling off two rocks.Bring on the hot water.

Certainly the Tuna are very late, I normally pencil in a couple of sessions in November with light spin gear but this year we have seen one school and that took a lot of searching ended up finding them out from ledge.

Simon....were them tonnies on the 45m because I have seen a few schools over the last month or so... what look like little blues or stripeys.....from bottom of Directional all the way upto west of Ledge......

thrown everything at them but every time you try to get up close to stalk em they dive....

notice the dolphins given em heaps as well,
