Hey guys and gals,
Was looking at chasing some Sampson fish land based north and south of perth,
Prefferably within 3 hours of the city. i have seen pictures from Cervantes lately producing some quality sampson fish
but i was wondering if anyone has any tips on local spots that have produced for you.
THANK YOU! :D

+1 lano jetty ive hooked 5
+1 lano jetty ive hooked 5 but never landed as they head straight under the jetty even on full lock on 80lb some big ones there to early morning and late evening they seem to be there but if you berley up they will hang around for a while.
And they will only take live bait any live bait even the bloody trumpeters as long as its swimming they take it.
My mate has landed one from the beach there on baloon on dead bait with helium skipping it around so might be worth a try also that's the only way they will take dead bait.
Good luck let us know how you go
to fish or not to fish is that even an option?

dont know my way around a sambo fight mate, never had any luck with them, i know they go hard and fight dirty, so hold on and good luck hahah
reason i asked bout ya gear is im curious to get into them in near future,
ive heard that if there dont head for pylons or snags and head seaward u got a good chance, but i dunno as im only repeating info from old salty jetty dogs

Tims Thicket south of
Tims Thicket south of Mandurah has produced some in the past from shore. Floating out live herring under a ballon or float i believe.
Seen one caught from Flat Rocks in Wilbinga too off the beach.
Or about 3 hrs south you have the Busselton Jetty, always get the big Smabos running along there in September. But as with the Lano jetty its sometimes hard to stop them busting you on the pylons.

If you ever get down south
The rocks at South Tennesee (other side of the headland from Lowlands Beach) has absolute monsters and it is a challenging 4wd in as well - also good for snapper and salmon with water 20+ metres deep directly off the rocks

Been wanting to head up to
Been wanting to head up to lanceline jetty, my mate said he saw free swimming sambos right near the jetty, but he didnt dare to try cause he only had tailor gear with him. Just wanting to know guys, would it be better to put out a livey under a baloon or just let it swim out by itself? Ive never chased big fish before so some of my questions might sound dumb.
