Sand whiting
Hi,
went out fishing with 2 mates today, launched from Quindalup ramp and shortly after were in 100 foot of water with rods in the water
returned back to the ramp 4 hours later with 85 Sand Whiting in the catch containers
All undersized fish were returned to the water, so all taken home were a good size
It was a very different way of fishing, as they used very small hooks with large sinkers to get the baits down to the sand fast
I was using larger hooks and getting nothing, even though I was sitting beside them using the same baits, so I packed my rod/reel away and used a spare they had in the boat.
I then was adding as much to the catch buckets as each of them were
was a gr8 morning out there fishing with some whales breaching many times, they were only a few hundred mtrs away

Sweet....
Sweet you learnt something, sweet you saw something groovy, sweet eating. Great day all around. A picture would have been sweet, but doesn't matter too much. Thanks for sharing.

went back to same spot this
went back to same spot this morning (Friday) with similar results
was only 2 in boat today, so we come home with the limit in just a few hours
If only I could do half as good with Dhufish or Snapper, even just one ( 1 ) would be terrific, then I would be very happy indeed

limit of numbers
Yes, understand your thoughts there, however we were advised the Sand Whiting was 30 per person per day so we stopped before we reached that limit
With a bigger fish, like the Snapper etc, yes would be just taking the one or two fish as you can get a few good meals from one, where it takes a lot of Whiting fillets to make a meal.

Hook size
Yes,
Could be good advise as they were using, long shank 'red' hooks, size "small"

I have used small circle
I have used small circle hooks with great success. They hook themselves every time and are hooked in the corener of the mouth
Don't spend all your money on beer, boats, and fishing. Save some to spend foolishly

I use Black Magic KL 1/0
I use Black Magic KL 1/0 circle hooks all the time
For bait my local Woolworths sells diced Beef heart.
At about $2 for a tray which is good for two or 3 trips.
