Hi guys
I am planning to buy a Shimano Saragosa for my new starlo shorespin rod, just confused 6000 or 8000 size, which one should to go?
I am mainly landbased fishing for tailor, salmon, tuna, and jewfish.

neither a 5000. 6000 and 8000
neither a 5000. 6000 and 8000 are same reel 8000 just has deeper spool. Both are too big to balance that rod 5000 is perfect

5000 is perfect ?
Hi,mate, but I saw 6000 is a new level for drag power up to 12 kg and 5000 just 10 kg. also I saw that even a 8000 size only can fill 200m 8kg mono.

What I do when buying a reel
What I do when buying a reel is take your rod with you into the shop and see how the various sizes feel. I think steve is on the money with the 5000 size, I have a gosa 6k which I purchased for a light jigging setup and was hoping to use it on 7' stick but it was just to heavy. I ended up with the Sustain 5k which I absolutly love.
With Shimano reels the drag washers contained in the spool are what determin drag preassure, as Steve said the 6k and 8k are the same body also the 4k and 5k are the same it is just the spool size which changes.
Hope that makes sense.

how is Shimano Thunnus CI4?
anyone got experience with Shimano Thunnus CI4? I think it is good to have a baitrunner function on a reel for jew and snapper, is this reel can match shorespin?
