Hi
After a quick bit of advice. I am about to buy a sea anchor for the new tub. This is my first boat and know very little about sea anchors. Any advice is welcome.
Boat is a Whitley 2100 walkaround.
Cheers fellas.

Any brands in particular guys?
I had a look at some a couple weekends ago. Some of them were rated up to 7m but looked tiny? for a 21' boat.
Is it correct to use 2/3 of the boat length as the diam for the parachute?

+1 for Oceanside. Had a couple before I got one of their largest size ones, think its called Silk. Pulls a 6.5m up well and very easy to deploy. Just chuck it over the side and it seems to untangle every time, very impressed.

Sea Anchor
Hi mate, We do have the best sea anchors for sure. For your boat the Silk 6-9 meter sea anchor would be ideal. As mentioned they come rigged with a briddle, Stainless steel swivels and dump cord. Also very easy to deploy plus they are made locally. Check them out when you come past to drop off the reels for servicing.

Hi mate we also stock smaller sea anchors to suit your boat. You would be looking at either the upto 5 meter or upto 6 meter sea anchor.

Ben, how do you like your Whitley? Had mine about 6 months now and has been a great boat so far bar a few electrical issues which has been fixed. What size engine do you have on yours?

Whitley 2100 walkaround
Hi Alex
Actually the Whitley is mine ( Ben is my son and deckie, mechanic and fishing Guru)
We have had the Whittley for about 18 months
Has a 150 Suzuki 4 stroke. Great motor and pretty economical.
The boat is a good all rounder really. 1 thing I have found is that it is surprisingly light for a glass boat.
Deck space is OK but find that fishing 3 up can be a bit cramped.
Did have an issue with the windscreen. Smashed a section on the way back from Shark Bay last May. They could not source a replacement section as the boats were actually. Made in the US and the windscreen mob went broke during the GFC.
We have also had our share of Electrical issues. Mainly bilge pump and lighting. All good at the moment though.
We replaced the in dash sounder with a HDS 10 and pod mounted a HDS7m on the top of the dash. We also networked the motor to both and it is outstandingly good.
Had to make a new dash to suit the set up. Used 2mm Ali. Cut it out, bent to fit and then had it powder coated gloss white. Now only run the tachometer and fuel gauges as back up if the network fails.
Ben had also just fitted a 150 liter fresh water deck wash. Bladder sits above the fuel tank and slightly forward. Used the high flow high pressured Johnson pump. Mounted it behind the port side cover. Jeeps of room in there to work and good flat surface to mount the pump. Generally v happy with the whole setup. Cheers Ross
Took out the draws from the starboard side tackle box below the step and mounted a soft pouch to house the hoses. Again works a Trat and no holes through the glass required.
