Sea rescue at mindarie
Submitted by TROOPY on Sun, 2013-03-17 19:48
Was just at mindarie and seen the rescue helicopter and at least four rescue boats searching about 100m out, apparently they were searching for some kids that were pulled out on a rip from claytons beach.
does anyone know if they were found? Hopefully theyre found safe

Unfortunately he was not found and the sea rescue guys were sent home. Not sure if the police continued or resume tomorrow.

Tragic, I can only imagine
Tragic, I can only imagine what the family are going through, I'd be a wreck if it was one of my kids.
I'm sure most people nowdays know the dangers associated with a rip but I think that most of them don't know how to recognise one. I think some large prominant signs showing how to recognise a rip at popular beaches would be helpfull. If they prevented even one tragedy like this happening in the future it would be money well spent.
Just because I smile & nod does not mean I believe the crap coming out of your mouth.

more people may need to wear
those blow up life vests, sounds stupid but it would save a lot of lives, also signs about what to do if caught in a rip

oh jesus. As a boat
oh jesus.
As a boat fisherman it serves as a reminder to always have your radio on emergency channel. You never know when you may be able to prevent such a tragedy.

Called out yesterday
Got the call around 5.00pm yesterday. We had 3 vessels and 1 from Two rocks in addition to Police & RAC chopper. We were out until 9.00pm searching and back on the water at 6.00am this morning. Body was found not far from where he went missing by police divers around mid day
Apparently he was not a good swimmer and got caught in a rip.
Always tragic but worse as a child involved. Our condolences go out to the family
