Has anyone been brave enough to hit the beaches around secret harbour golden bay and singleton to target Mulloway recently.

If so has anyone had any luck with in the past two weeks?

cheers

I walked from secret harbour

Tue, 2010-08-03 15:57

I walked from secret harbour surf club to golden bay this morning Colin and there are some breaks in the weed but its quite shallow sandbank sort of ground- theres some whiting, pilch etc around but with the deeper gutters yet to form the chances of a mulla would be slim i would think.... I did find one nice looking hole but with all the weed between it and the shore it would be a real headache trying to land anything large.

Hopefully by September it should all be clear.

thats pretty good, i have tamed the bearings in the 525 with a pretty thick oil so if you want it faster try a thinner oil. I just bought a 12ft tiralejo, gotta get out to give it a go.

Tue, 2010-08-03 16:23

yer took it out on my 10 footer, after a few casts i realised the bearings were FULL of GREASE.  took it home and flushed the bearings out and oiled them. havent had a chance to use it since. itching but. was hoping the rescent swells would have created a few gutters. :(

Im extremely suprised i dont hear alot more reports on this site about fishing these areas! Tailor, mulloway, and a pretty good chance of a shark if you were to try.. Mate was surfing secret harbour the other week and the beach had to be closed coz of a big tiger shark!
