Secret Harbour Gummy run
Headed to my local for a late afternoon into the evening session last night. The bulk of the weed that had pretty much shut down the fishing at Secret Harbour has moved on so after selecting which gutter to fish in I was feeling optimistic. The last few weeks bait fish have been really hard to come by, normally I'd have a live bait bucket full of Whiting and Mullet before it got dark but again I had nothing and had to resort to Plan B, frozen Servo Mullet.
Around 8pm the wind dropped and the Gummies came out to play, hooked and landed 3 in the space of 45 min and lost one thing that went head shaking bat sh!t crazy. No idea what the crazy thing was, but if a Snapper and an Eagle Ray had a child I think I hooked it.
I kept one of the Gummies and returned the others, great night and the freezer is full again.
Excuse the picture the camera was on a timer and the Gummy had just kidney slapped me, note to self: don't take photo with live Gummy, they are very strong.

Gummy
Good effort, is it common to catch mullet in the shorebreak down there?

Yeah Rig this year the mullet
Yeah Rig this year the mullet have been pretty much the main bait catch for me at Secret Harbour. You can watch them making raids into the shallows most of the time.
I've fished Secret Harbour for years (I live there) and can’t remember a year when there was so many Mullet, having said that they all seem to have gone now. There are quite a few of the older locals that fish exclusively for them down here, all with their own secret mullet baits and tricks. Not a chance of them giving away their secrets either, they out fish me all the time LOL.

Sounds like some good action
Sounds like some good action down there!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
