Sure are Craig - not to mention the sharks of media and hundreds of gawkers. I went for a quick suss of the situation, soon relaised what was up when I saw a dive flag free floating and a few boats and jet skis buzzing, not to mention RVSRG and all the choppers - farkin circus - soon felt sick and left the beach.
Yeh thats very sad for sure RIP. With all the sittings/reports of GW
sharks "slightly offshore" of late i was only thinking last week how
long would it take for one to come to the beaches and if so thats a
high risk area!
Bob was saying if its the guest's he's thinking of he is the son of the late Alf Guest a past Commodore of CPBA, fantastic son & good fisherman, loved to fish with his father Alf, if anybody has been inside the Club house you'll see that big fibreglass cast of the just under 25kg dhuie Brians father caught. Brian was a excellent fishing master for the fish comps as well. RIP
ps........yes it was Brian Guest.......RIP Bob Kennington 1st Rear Commodore CPBA
yeah pretty sad and hits home sadder when its somebody who alot of people knew, i was at the hospital watching tv tonight and heard the name and said to the g/f when they mentioned who it was, gee i think hes from the fishing forums, came home and check and sure enough

To the family and all that knew him, a very sad loss.
I didn't know the guy other than from reading his articles and posts from time to time, but from all reports it seems he was a great bloke and will be sorely missed by a lot of people.
Kind of brings it close to home, when something like this happens.
Shock news, hits hard when you know of the person. Also makes you think, I frequent that area a bit snorkelling for crabs since they closed Cockburn Sound.
My thoughts are with his family, especially his son - that would be a horrible thing to witness.
Apparently snorkling only 30m away from the shore chasing crabs....
I think there are a few members on this site that also snorkle for crabs from the same beach.
Did go in and see ryan and talked about shark shields and how good they actually are. For all those divers out there, as sad as the news is, should seriously consider investing in one if do not already own one.
Im with HuggyB, cannot imagine what his son is going through having to watch that ordeal.
what a sad day that was ,i was trying to avoid traffic ,after visiting my grandmother,so i went via the coast, there was police and people every were ,i took a few photos of the beach ,but honestly it was a mad house of people ,cameras ect.
rip brian

media say snorkelling =
media say snorkelling = freediving. Didn't feel too good when I saw the dive flag free floating in the shallows some 200m from the search site.

Guesty
I didn't know Guesty personally, but many I do know held him in very high regard - obviously for very good reason.
My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family, other relatives and close friends.
