Great place.

Just about all year round, but it gets a little windy in the summer months.
A quick trip 15km's to Monkey Mia will get you out of the wind.
Heading up there next month for a week and looking forward to it very much.

A 22 footer will get you over to D/H Island & Steep Point on a day trip, great fishing at both.
As usual you just have to pick your day, and ask for some local knowledge from this site using the search function.

Went up there at end of march a couple of years ago. Weather played the game most of the time with light winds but had a few days that were not so good. Temp was great but unfortunatly there had been a weather system through a few weeks before hand and the flies were out of control.

Will be heading back there in 10 days time for some more snapper madness. Look for a report with a stack of photo's in a few weeks.

Luck

Mon, 2016-07-04 15:20

Luck is good but i'm heading up with my good mate Darren. His parents own Nanga station and he has a few secret spots out from there that you just cant miss on. Luck might help with the wind and give us glass for a week...Lol

Hey wez.  April in Shark Bay

Tue, 2016-07-05 05:37

Hey wez.  April in Shark Bay is for the most part, magical.  Most days are great, some are absolutely superb.  But when it blows, you dont necessarily find shelter on the Monkey Mia side, it just blows from a different direction.

If you are thinking about April, and particularly school holidays book now.  The camp ground at monkey mia is already booked out for the holidays.

Hi Randall, thanks mate. I have booked a nice 2 storey house in Denham at about $1400.00 for 10 nights, 8th to the 20th of April, there are 6 of us going, 1 boat & 2 x 4WD.
Can't wait to explore everywhere on the water & hopefully catch a couple of Snapper. And take in all the land based sites as well

I can give you some general areas over the monkey mia side.  Dont have much on the denham side unless you go all the way to steep point and dhi (outside).

I've been March, April, May, June.

April has been the pick for me, usually still pretty warm and plenty of light wind days.

Didn't make it this year, but already booked for next year..........in April

2 storey house, $140 per night, not staying at "Getaway" by any chance are you ? Our usual haunt, but was already booked April 2017.

Cheers

Wez,If you ain't catching

Wed, 2016-07-06 06:46

Wez,

If you ain't catching fish at Shark Bay you are doing something SERIOUSLY wrong !

We've managed some top fish in both Gulfs, also at Steep Point and Turtle Bay, although the sharks were a real problem at Turtle Bay last trip.

I'll be in a 6.7 mtr Coraline walkaround, crappy red colour, will keep an eye out for Reel Freedom 2.
