shark prep

With so many sharks being caught lately I was wondering if you guys could tell me the best way to dispatch them & what I need to do to keep it fresh until I get it home.

Thanks

Whack

Give it a whack right between the eyes to stun it then off with the head and innards, especially the brown strip along its spine, off with the tail, rinse it in salt water to get rid of all the blood down the small tube running from its tail to the back end of its gut cavity and in to the ice slurry in the esky.

also , when you have filleted it throw it in the freezer for a couple of days then eat some. its one fish that tastes better after freezing imo. just to try it out have a feed before you freeze then a feed after and see the difference. fresh caught shark is delisious.

Backbone / spine

If you have a dog don't throw the backbone out, clean most or all of the meat off it and cut it in to 4-5 inch sections and give it to the pet to chew on. Never seen a dog that didn't like it.
