Just bought the above reel brand new for $229.99. Been looking at different reels and this struck me as a bargain. Here's the link if anyone is interested.

I went to the bcf store
And handled the 3000 model stradic and it wasnt very smooth. Not sure if it was because it was a display model but i wasn't impressed

Yeah, I saw the BCF one, but they weren't doing any bigger than the 3000 model. The 4000 model will better suit my needs.

Handle
Nice reel and enjoy using my 3000 but the 4000 would be better with a longer handle and better knob i.e. like the stradic 5000...
Cheers

Reel arrived yesterday, not bad timing, left NZ on Tuesday afternoon and was delivered here yesterday. Australia Post could learn something there. Nice little reel, super smooth, but very surprised at its size for a 4000 size reel. Quite small. But gonna spool it up with 6-8 kg braid, what's a good braid these days?

I use sunline braid never
I use sunline braid never had an issue, they are a small reel but very capable.
I've got a 2500 and use it for snapper.

Couldn't find any sunline the right size at Oceanside today, so went with 7.5kg fire line exceed, spooled up the Stradic with that and going to pair it all up with a new 2016 Daiwa Generation Black supacasta that Oceanside had. Tad long at 229cm (7'6") but sometimes you gotta cast.

Stradic 4000Ci
Yeah, I have one of these and well as a couple of ancient 4000 size white ones, and a little 2500 Ci.
I dont pretend to be an expert, but these reels seem to be just about indestructable and would appear great value for money. I use the 4000 size for chucking slices at Tuna, and the 2500 for bottom bouncing.
They continue to amaze me with the quality of the drag, and the rugged build.
