Shore Catch, help with our bait selection

Mick and I have been having a lot of discussions about the different bait we should stock, for when the demersal ban ends, while we have all the staples  (mullies, scalies, squid, occy, mullet ect) we also have the chance to source different baits of the highest quality off our very good fish monger and other professional contacts.

We would love some input from members about the bait they would like or have found hard to source for their  type of fishing such as herring or cuttlefish for example.

We have been asked about mixed bait packs, what bait packs and baits would you like to see in specific packs? ie offshore pack, beach pack, jetty pack/river pack, maybe even a deep droppers pack

We would really appreciate everyones input no matter what species you target.

Thanks.

Hey callum

One thing in particular which is always hard to find as bait, sand whiting!

if there was the option to purchase some vac packed and reasonable quality whiting baits, I am fairly certain they would walk out the door quick smart.

An offshore demersal mixed bait pack would be great. A few whiting, some scalies, some squid, some mulies etc, would make for an awesome day's bait fishing I am sure

Cheers

 +1 for some decent vac

+1 for some decent vac packed sand whiting. It's hard to catch them in a pumping souwester when the tailor/mullies are on the chew.

Fresh locally caught occy

Tue, 2016-11-29 18:36

I am always on the lookout for fresh locally caught occy (edible grade) and not the standard bait supply stuff. I know it gets expensive but if you weigh up the extra cost compared to only having half the fish in the esky it pays off. I have seen the difference many times between catch rates people on the same boat with the same rig one using fresh compared to standard tackle store occy. At times is has been available at certain tackle stores but very hard to come by a reliable source. Cheers birky.
