Small boat launching spots exmouth
G'day all,
our annual boys boys trip to Exmouth is coming up this Easter. We normally head there with about 8 guys and 2x large boats. Unfortunately due to family reasons one of the big boat owners has had to pull out. So that means that I am now taking along my 4.3 metre tinnie instead.
now I know of the obvious 2x ramps being tanaTabiddi and bundegie however most of the ground we have out of those areas is literally miles away (10 mile at a minimum). Given that now we are having to play the ball game a little differently this time I was wondering if anyone could should some light on areas you can launch a tinnie where some reasonable ground is not all that far away.
Tantabiddi obvioulsy holds a lot more reef structure in close and drops off to bigger depths a lot quicker than bundegie but is there anywhere else we should be focusing our efforts? The usual story when people as these sort of info, I am not asking for "old mates secret spot that never fails" merely a point in a direction to help hook some fish and get some good string pull.
our boating experience is good however being a small boat we are not after anything too hairy as far as getting the boat launched or retrieved.
if anyone can shed some further light (even via pm if hat is more prefab le) that would be great

Yep
There is quite a few of the campsites in the national park where a dinghy can be launched, but don't forget there are only 2 main passages through the reef. The one just north of tantas, and south passage, which is only 6 miles south of the tantas passage.
The reef south of there is way too shallow to cross/travel, and that is speaking from experience. Not much point launching any further south of there, as you can't cross the reef.
The next safe passage down from south passage, is near yardie creek. I haven't been past the creek, but I've heard there's some spots you could beach launch there with a good 4wd and good crew.
Youve also got the marina option too if you were gulf fishin.

Dont try and understand the
Dont try and understand the wind action there in a day. Will be different strength/direction from between tantas, bundegi, town beach, and down the gulf at any one given time lol. Beach launch at the bottom of the gulf would be the go. Go for a day explore in the 4x4 like to bay of rest to suss launchin and/or ask the locals. Few shoals down there would be my starting point for bottom action and even trolling for macks. Trolling round the islands down the bottom at highish tide is good for trevs/quennies and macks. Any good ground close to common launch areas is flogged imo, although local spearos manage to nail trout off town beach so go figure??? Was hard work to get onto reef fish when we (family) went up (first time) in sept in our tinny but can always troll up pelagics for fun, although would still be more productive down the gulf imo. Evening/night is meant to be the go for spangos in close locally. Squid south of the marina close to shore (dunno if time of year varies productivity) Should get good days over easter to do some miles in the tinny but as you know its farkn busy, dunno if any of this helps, but see how you go....

Oh and be cautious if you plan to head north and around from bundegi, can wip up nasty stuff so Im told but apparently the bay there can produce some rankin etc in close. I did get a visual of some small (approx 4kg) rankin on the bottom at the pearling fads on my drop down camera that are between bundegi and the marina in ummmmm 13m??? Cant remember, the spots are in gps of my old tub. Had some school macks on them when I was there too

Way closer beach launching
Perhaps 5 km south of lighthouse and puts you on Halby Bank ...... The legendary George King put us onto the spot but it is through small surf as North of the fringing reef and you MUST head North after heading through the easy as gap but quickly into 80 feet of water for everything including sails and marlin out of tiniest ......pm if you need precise directions
