Small Trailer ATM upgrade

I have a dunbier single axle trailer rated to 1180kg which doesn't leave much weight for carrying camping gear extra for longer trips. I want to see whether I csn get it upgraded easily by a couple of hundred kilos..1450 would be good enough. It has a 45mil axle and ford hubs bearings and 13 inch wheels. From what I can think of the only thing that is stopping it from getting a higher ATM is the load weighting of the tyres which are 600ish each. Is it just a matter of getting some higher rating 13inch tyres or putting 14s on it and taking it throught the pits or am I missing something?

I'll find a local trailer place to take it to..Mandurah or Rockingham if anyone has any recommendations but thought I'd ask here first.

Cheers Pete

May need to upgrade the springs as well.
Tyres should be ok if they are Light Truck.
At 1180kg I imagine it has brakes already.
Yes you will have to get it re-rated through a inspection place then have the licence updated.

3 consideration. Tyres springs axle

Your axles fine.

Your tyres will need a bigger load rating. You can get 13" tyres rated to 730kgs which will give you an atm of 1460kg or going to 14s will up it more.

What springs do you currenty have and you will need to find out there rating.

Then you will need an upgraded vin plate. You will im sure need the trailer weighed again without boat to get the new tare weight if you change anything on trailer.

Then trailer needs to pass inspection.

Pm me if you need any more info.

Stay clear of Mandurah inspection centre

I've had and heard of a lot of people who have had bad experiences at Mandurah inspection centre.

I went through this

Trailer was single axle roadmaster in excellent condition but obviously way under-rated (1200kg)for boat. Spoke to the manufacturer, and they agreed to supply the necessary gear to uprate to 1800kg  (Single to tandem)and re-issue VIN plate. Limited to 1800 due to drawbar being the lighter of the two available materials for that model, unfortunately. See if Dunbier will do the same?
