So how did everyone go?
Submitted by Dale on Sat, 2014-10-04 16:04
Sat down at the Point Peron boat ramp for a couple of hours this morning, reading the paper and watching boats come and go. Looked an awesome day on the water, so how did those people fare who went out today?

Umm, no boat these days, and where I am in the village at Wellard, there just ain't no room even for a dinghy. Lucky to have room for the wifes Corolla and my ute.

feel you pain mate
if you want a trip out drop me a message , will agree with you but , its very nice spot it kick back and relax with a coffee and the paper, what was good to see at PP today was although it was as busy as I have ever seen it at the ramp today , people were helping each other out (seems if you help each other out every one gets out of the water quicker) and no agro to be seen just lots of "how did you go mate" and 'Where were you fishing"

Yeah I might take you up on that sometime Peter, but I'm not much good for spots these days, there was a time when I knew Cockburn Sound like the back of my hand and could always find a few fish.

gear found
Dug out my rods from under all the crap in the shed (garage) and they all seem to be intact, so that's a good start.

Beautiful day on the waterl
One undersize Dhuie, busted off by something very big. No fish to bring home but I almost tee boned a whale. What an amazing huge animal. There were two travelling together. I stopped for several minutes to watch them. One stuck its tail up out of the water & just hung there for a while. Initially I was a lot closer to them than you are suposed to be, but it was an accidental meeting. Worth the trip just for that.

Atrocious Conditions
Down here today Dale. NW-N 10-15 all day. Bay looked like a frothing choc milkshake and the west coast even worse.
Havn't been out in over a month with all the good days during the week and shitful weekends![](http://fishwrecked.com/sites/all/libraries/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/thumbs_down.gif)

Out behind the 3 mile, massive bust off by something that stripped my reel to the backing, nice flat head, few squid and a 5m white pointer to look at (might have been my bust off)

Flare at 3 mile
Hi bud, I was one of the boats that got asked to head to the flare at 3 mile, however when I arrived there were two other boats at the scene, some seats floating in the water, I spoke to one person on board one of the boats, he said no one left in the water, but they lost their boat. I didnt get any other details as it was at the front of where it was breaking and I don't have a lot of experiance in those conditions so once I had the green light to go, I got out of there as I was on my own. I did a search on google but nothing came up, did you find out what happened?
Cheers
John

Fished offshore here at Gero
and had a reasonable day.
Got this nice 76cm Dhui on a Zerek live shrimp and released 4 small ones.
Also caught 4 undersized Dhu's, a 45cm Baldie and some undersized specimens, plus a rat sambo and a few charlie courts.
All up we must have got 10 dhu's - couldn't get away from them after we had our boat limit!
I think the highlight of the day was having a whale and her calf swim right under the bow of the boat - talk about up close and personal!
The conditions worsened as the morning went on and it was a wet bumpy 26 mile ride back to Gero - was glad to set foot on dry land again :)
I hope R1, Riff raff and Dale etc like my cap ha ha!

Was at 3 mile off Ocean Reef,
Was at 3 mile off Ocean Reef, about to dive, called Whitfords to login given we were just infront of the breakers. They advised to reconsider given there was a 5m White spotted there so cancelled the dive. There were too small boats near us trying to retrieve a tinnie off the bottom. Whitfords pulled up in the big rib and knew it wasnt possible to retrieve off the bottom so not sure how long the other boats hung around for. Not sure how that incident unfolded!
Day prior (friday) got our bag of dhuie + some snapper and breaksea in the 40's off mullaloo.
