I work for Fisheries Research in Exmouth and know that the mangrove system and Grade A pristine wetlands on the Eastern side of the gulf is the basis for food reproduction for the entire ecosystem in the Exmouth region. This untouched wildnerness is extremely important to the food chain, how much in terms of a macro level can not be quantified due to its expanse, but analysis on a micro level will give you a fair indication of its role. What I do know is about the importance of these fish, the coral and the tourism which keeps this town alive. If the Ningaloo is to become World Heritage, then the potential damage to its core marine food outlet is far more important than this one organisations profit margins.

The EPA gave a deccision but the election gave us a new government which seems to not give a stuff for anything decided on in the term of the previous government,so Strait Salts have raised their hand to have another shot.

You only have to look at the "NEW GAS PRECINCT" north of Broome that the Premier plucked out of the air and said this is "IT"and nobody can do jack shit about it.

The salt project will be the complete end to fishing in Exmouth Gulf and the EPA recognised this.
