Solo dinghy trip
On Sunday with the weather being absolutely perfect I decided to head out behing Garden Island for a snapper bash. It was only my second ever trip out behind the islands. I arrived about an hour before dark and found some nice looking ground to anchor on, anchored and started the burley trail. It was literally a glass off out there.
I cast the first unweighted bait out and started to rig the second rod. Before I could bait and cast the second the rod that was already in the water loaded up to a reasonable fish. After a short tug of war up came a 69cm pinky, mission accomplished
I cast both lines and continued burleying with hopes of a few more snapper but it was very quiet for teh next hour and I was just starting to think of heading home when there was a take on the same rod, I started fighting the fish which I thought was a smaller snapper but was extremely surprised when my first metro dhuie showed in the light. Although I have caught plenty of dhuies from my kayak it is my first dhuie caught from my tinny. Not a large one at 54cm it was a keeper and made a fantastic meal for myself and my bride. Not long after I headed home, dropped the pinky off to a mate who is injured and unable to fish.

Great timing for a Sunday
Great timing for a Sunday fishing solo success, and good on you for thinking about a mate who can't get out to do some fishing.
I was the same 18months ago when I broke a few bones in my foot, and couldn't get out fishing for quiet awhile. A great bloke who is on this site, gave me some snapper fillets and wings.
Very grateful at the time.
Cheers.
