I know nobody just hands out their secrects but if you could supply a little insight into how to catch pinkies in Cockburn Sound it would be much appreciated.
I've probably had 6 or 7 attemts over the years and had no luck, in fact once i even had my trailer stolen which was fun haha -- Would you suggest to cruise around and search or anchor up at either Pinnicals or D9?
Probably going to get on the water at 5.30pm this evening and try stay out all night depending on how we go.
Also do Soft Plackies work at night?
Once again thanks in advance.

Im the same mate. Spent many
Im the same mate. Spent many hours out there over the years but yet to get them in the sound. Can be frustrating when there are so many pics of snapper up lately. Good luck.

simple
do what everyone else does,
spot a boat then race up to them, try and give them the biggest wake posiible with your stezza on full blast.
proceed to throw you anchor as close as you can, (prefferably so when the wind changes your $2 boat will hit there nice boat)
you must make as much noise with the anchor and chain as snapper love the comotion
smoke some crack to get in the all nighter mood
continue this method and surely you will succeed as everyone else addapts this same method

That's not very nice advice barracuda
Unfortunately you are so right though, what you have described seems to be the modus operandi for a lot of people fishing in the sound of late.
You have forgotten to add that they then use all the abusive words know to the English speaking world against you for being in that particular place first and then taking offence at their bad manners and abuse.

Best to have a drive around
Best to have a drive around and watch your sounder. If you see any signs, stop drop the anchor and burley up. If no fish in the first hour move on. I have had some good success on the ledge heading south from the fist marker out of Cockburn ramp. I think about 14mtrs. Drive up and down and have a look. been a while since I have fished it but cant see it changing much. Try un weighted whole baits drifted down the burley trail and check your baits every 10 or so min and try a variety such as squid and fish. And yes soft plastics and jigs work at night caught plenty of fish that way.
Good luck

6 or 7 times out over the years isn't too bad, I've been out on 5 trips within the last month for 0 legal pinks haha. My theory of patience and spending the hours on the water is slowly dying, lucky for me I have a horrendous body clock so the early morning haven’t bothered me.
Plenty of boats out past the shipping channel markers today.

Just burley brother.....like
Just burley brother.....
like others said look for fish on sounder, if you can't mark fish cause you sounder or sounder skills not good enough just look for a likely lump, anchor off the lump so your boat is over the lump or slightly up current from the lump so your burley heads down current towards it and ultimately brings the fish to the back of the boat - no point having the fish under the boat if your bait and burley is drifting away from it....
unweighted Mullie in the burley trail works best for me - if no current don't let it sink to the bottom, a few metres off bottom works best for me....if heaps of current watch your line so the bait doesn't just end up sitting on the surface.
I get a bit of a traditional burley trail happening with the pre-made rubbish you buy at BCF as soon as the anchor pulls tight, then I just cube up mullies for the rest of the night. A 2.5kg block cubed up over the course of the night normally does me the whole night.
Try to vary the distance you cast from the back of your boat, if fishing a couple of lines try one just off the back and another a decent cast out and then in-between etc etc...
my fave spot is just outside the sound, north end, just off the NW corner of GI, fish tide change changes,

Sound for trenches or
Sound for trenches or significant depth changes and burley burley burley.
If you can drift do it, then use an unweighted whole squid and mulie on separate lines.
But seriously, BURLEY

If big numbers
Of boats around look on out skirts. Or inside them. Get fish quick as possible and go. There going mental right now . 30 boats not many not hooking up. As pointed out prior they don't like anchors dropping on there heads. Or racing around . Slow and steady . Funny can only imagine fights right now. Good luck.
