There has been a lot of talk about sounders of late. I have in the past typically fished while looking for the gound i think the fish will be, without the use of a super flash sounder. Keeping in mind i am often only in 1.5 to 2.5 m of water up a creek system. The unit i have on this rig is a basic NAVMAN Fish 4100. With the new rig comming in feb i think it is time to definately learn a little more and seek advice from you guys on which might be best for my aplication. I was origionally going to spend around 700 but now i am thinking up to 12 or 1300 would be ok.
Can anyone reccomend something for barra fishing creek sysems to 2.5 3m at the most. I might do a bit of bottom bashing in winter to 40m but that is about it
cheers

sonar for sure!
Yeh Furuno and Garmin are great units but in a creek i'd be buying a Hummingbird side scan with sonar image. You can buy this unit by themselves or buy a combo unit including a colour sounder also (transducer included)
This is ideal for creeks, you get to see the shallow and deep contours of the creeks, all hidden structure like snags/rock bars/fallen trees etc where ya barra would hide.
It's the ducks for that stuff Brad but the local market really didn't take a shinning to it beacause most are not creek fisho's. I've used one, super impressed, basically a full X-ray of whats under the water.
