south gero tailor

Just returned today from greenough ,cape burney, area today.

Some large tailor around for those who try and think outside the square.

Lots of people trying all the easy to fish spots at a time that suits them ,not the fish!

this is giving away trade secrets abit ,but not really to forum members i reckon

quadded to some areas ,but 4wd can get there too, quad more fun and quicker ,hence my user name.

fish your light conditions if the tides are not in your favour.like for me.Whitewater no matter how small.

normally i use gardies or big mulies ,but tried sauris from bluewater myree this time.

They are a bit softer than gars ,but the tailor love um,around half the price of gars too .

Always wear my rockboots and wetsuit ,never fish alone if possible , and watch those swells, people have

died along this stretch of coast.

photo was thursday nights 30/09/10 catch, had many more hits ,and big slashes from a turned on school, that has

scratched my itch from these great ,exciting fish.

always learning

  1. thanks kinga86 ,good idea about the cotton ,i have some but never thought to use it

shows we are always learning, think the great ross cusack said the same thing.

Tailor alone have kept me guessing for 20 years , let alone salmon, mullas etc.

I was a bit short on hooks this trip and as well in the past have found the 6 or 7 hooks needed for big gars can lock up and not let the bait swim that well ,

so this trip i used 2 rear

6/0s and then a short piece of 80lbs pre straighted wire about 120mm long to a top 6/0. I only use or lose! 3 hooks per rig and the sauris swam with a

bit more flex

I will call it the budget big gar beater!  ha ha.

Quad fishing

Yep I too am a quad fisherman and fish Greenough regurarly.
It is a great area. Used to use the 4x4 but having the quad allows access to many unfished areas.
