SP Rod

I am looking at getting a rod specifically for SP fishing from shore, i.e. walking flats etc. I figure I'd like to use about a 6kg outfit. I'd also like to get a set up for boat fishing SP's however realise that two rods would probably be the go (if a longer wand is required from shore)...I have been told recently that a fast action tip is more appropriate for casting SP's - I actually figured a slower tip would be better for casting distance?? I would appreciate your thoughts on an appropriate rod for these purposes Cheers PS I'm thinking of a
Certate to put on the rod/s.

Loomis
Just got me a DSR920 GLX GLoomis, beautiful stick, amazingly light.
Seems all the bream boys use these or equivalent for flicking little HB's and SP's. Can't wait to try it out on some Jacks/Bream/Flatties this weekend.
And yes, they all use fast taper rods. A Dropshot will generally be fast taper, thats my understanding. More power through the tip, more backbone further down equals more distance with smaller weights I thought. All these rods would be graphite too,
The Starlo Sticks are great value IMO, can't go past one of them if on a budget.
Daiwa also have some nice rods in the Team Daiwa range. Significantly cheaper.

I have a pflueger trion
I have a pflueger trion and can't fault it, cast both hb and sp like a dream.
alot cheaper than a loomis aswell
I reckon a Certate 1000 would go perfectly with a trion.

were you thinking about 8ft for shore based?
and between 6 and 7 foot for boat? also what size certate? AT a guess a 4000. Have you looked at Shimano Raiders. They have a 7ft 6 in, 6 to 10kg. About $130 and another called an estuary spin same line rating, a bit shorter for the boat. Depends on your budget though. there are some nice blanks out there that build into really nice rods. i would go a fast action or extra fast action rod for better casting distance with lighter weights. cork grips are the go and make sure the components are fuji.
FEEEISH ONNN!!!

Thanks very much fellas
Appreciate your thoughts on this, I'm learning a lot, which is the idea I guess. Banrneboy, Yes I was thinking of a 6/7 foot for boating, thinking that I should go longer for shore based work. I am very new to SP's. A bit of trial and error I guess. Thanks again all.
