Spawning Snapper - ripper day out

Managed to get the day off today and headed out with the family. Heading towards Carnac, just going past Woodmans point, I thought we had come across the end of the pipe stirring up water but nope, it was a mass of pinky's doing their thing.

Awesome to see, more so with the kids.

Took a few photos and some video resisting the urge to grab one for a taste after not catching a size one for two years....

Continuing out, the kids got into some squid with one pulling serious drag on the little k-mart 4lb pond reels. Kids are loving it at the tic, moreso as the wife and I have contributed 0 to the tally in the last three trips.

5yo daughter helped me clean them and enjoyed dissecting their innards. A heap of sand crabs appeared to make the most of an easy meal which added to the fun.

Continued out and played with some dolphins before heading out to 20m looking for whales but no luck. Into the beach at GI for a sausage, sandcastle and snorkel before heading in at 2:30.

Bloody great day.

Beautiful Day

A reminder of how lucky we are to live in this beautiful place. I have recently experienced the joy of watching my 2 and a bit year old grandson catching his first sand whiting on a glassy day off Freo. I so hope that he can do that with his grandson someday.

that's what it's all about, Swompa!
they're the days you will back on with the tin lids and say what a great time we had; they still laugh when I remind of the time I got inked all over my head, face and neck by a big cuttlefish
you're building great family memories; and kids that will respect and love the ocean

Yeah there are some awesome spots down the back. The best ones involve some sketchy paths in so generally you don't see anyone else.
