speargun advice

Hey guys,
I'm chasing a bit of advice about my 1000mm railgun.
I replaced the line on it, but i am unsure whether i have made it the correct length.
How long on average should the line be ?
Mine is 3 lengths of the gun.
I dont seem to be able to get close enough without spooking the fish, or it could be that i am just a crap shot !

yeah 3 gun lengths is right,
yeah 3 gun lengths is right, if you need more range get a longer gun! I've got a 1200 and it's a good length for reef and bluewater, it has a decent range but not too gumby in close.
