Love love love squidding. Caught several small to medium ones in the Sound today. Using some new Daiwa jigs and they are amazing! Also came across a few cuttlefish which was imteresting. You really can't beat a day squidding.

Wicked bait or wicked feed,
Wicked bait or wicked feed, good morning for it, I cant wait to get out and drift a few new jigs. Were you using the nudes?
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

If you were the northern end
If you were the northern end of GI there seems to be a abundance of cuttlefish. I think its the rocky ground and reef that keeps them close.

Had some for lunch today,
Had some for lunch today, delicious, and the rest are in the freezer. Squid is defnitely my preferred bait so might have to try using some of the ones I caught next time I'm offshore. No I was using cloth covered ones, but have an orange nude which I have caught them on before. Not sure if it was just coincidence but I think I caught much bigger ones last time I was using the nudes. We weren't at the northern end of the island, we were further south. Took two cuttlefish home and cooked them up. Tasted very similar to the squid.

Curious
whats the bag limit over there?
15 per angler in WA, often pretty easy to get that.

Good Pic
Nice one Squid Jiggler , looks like a good Day , don't they taste better fresh to frozen. At times we get some large Cuttlefish down here , but can bust up the jigs at times . as do the Nwest Blowies.

Looks like you were squiding near the 2 poles, try the north end of GI in the weed banks 3-5m.

We went out a couple weeks
We went out a couple weeks ago fishing and decided to end the day squidding. Caught 10 squid in about half an hour and then had to head back in cos friends were coming over for dinner. The boat motor was running but I just had to have one more cast and got three squid in three casts. Will have to try some white ones and see what happens. My fav colour is the pink jig!

Some nice ones around at the
Some nice ones around at the mo thats for sure, I have been cleaning up on them lately been getting 10-15 each time out when not really specifically targeting them and bagging out no prob when I do target them. A heap of cuttle fish too. I am using a pink jig by Yo-Zuri, it is a good U.V reflecting colour. Green in glow is also worth a crack especially in the late arfternoon around sunset, green being an excelent U.V reflecting colour.

Colour ?
Someone in one of the tackle shops told me that squid are colour blind. Is that true ? I can imagine that they respond to different shades and/or UV light, but colour ?
