Hi Luke,Went for a squid down

Tue, 2011-11-22 08:50

Hi Luke,

Went for a squid down at Dawesville Cut (Mandurah) last night. Got Half a dozen in 45 min. It was a little bit slow. But using the Gancraft 3.0 Egijya produced the goods. Its a bit of a hike but in about a months time the place should be full of Calamari.

Cheers Blake

Went out a week ago in the sound and caught 20 and kept 15 and a few were absolute horses nearly 35cm tube length. Got them drifting but i found anchoring and casting around broken ground seemed to work better.

Best depth was between 5-6m. Pink and purple did the trick.

lots in the sound last monday

Tue, 2011-11-22 13:05

headed out in the sound on monday and ended with 18 in about 3.5hrs.  Was hard work, especially when the wind picked up, but they were definately there when we got the drifts where we wanted (wind was shifting constantly).  Most were pretty good sized, a lot better than the lst trip 3mths ago, but pinks worked well in 3.0.

Personally think its pretty quiet at the moment (in the sound) in comparison to winter, but I agree, out in the deeper water like 5-8, rather than the 3-5 of parmelia bank and majority of the sound. Find a school and stick with it, I have found it hard to locate squid lately. I spend approximately an hour today for 3 in the space of about 5 minutes, not really worth the effort in my opinion.

I tried Hillarys on friday evening, both north/south wall on the inside. Nothing, although it was my first time trying to catch squid so maybe next time.
