squid frenzy

Was anchored herring fishing with a mate yesterday and flicked out a squid jig, hooking up immediately. About 10m from the boat i saw it was flanked by 2 others, one of which was attacking the hooked squid. My mate was soon in on the action hooking one of them and i unhooked and recast quick smart. In 10 minutes we caught 7 good squid. Bloody good fun. Anyone else had that happen?

The best I've seen is about 15 squid after the one lure - now that was a site. Caught five out of the school. As till said - concentrate on those areas.

Just watch out for squid pingers!

Nice feed.

Cheers Pete

Gotta love squid.eat the tube and the heads go straight in the freezer for bait....
Have seen them in the sound sometimes 5 or 6 chasing a jig, also agrree with Till, move around until you find them, sometimes can be less than 50m between and good drift and a bad one.

i had a top session off carnac a while ago, i would hook one and have a heap follow the boat on the drift. so all i had to do was drop the jig not even a couple of feet from the boat and 100 mil below the surface and they were fighting for it. got my bag in 10 minutes ! could have scooped them with the landing net [ if i was fast enough ]
