Hi everyone, just looking for some info on good spots for squid around Freo? Tried the middle groyne at Woody Pt last night without much luck... thanks!

The groyne can be good but
The groyne can be good but pretty big and miss, it's very shallow there so you need to bomb out light jigs a fair distance. Mews road in Fremantle is my favourite spot. Just head towards the roundabout at the end (same road as kalis is on) and there's lights there on all night which brings them in. Taken some ripper squid there over the years. The adjacent groyne on capo d'orlando drive is good as well. Start off with 3-3.5 size and if you're not getting many just keep downsizing until you're picking up all the lollipop squid right at the rocks. Have had nights where we picked up our limit on tiny squid within 30 mins. Dynamite bait for fishing the stones up north. Don't be afraid to fish in a strong wind either, the squid don't seeem to mind in my experience

That last bit bought back
That last bit bought back memories. Used to fish those areas through the winter storms and the squid would shelter in the calmer corners. Nailed plenty of big bags in 30+knts
