Starlink

Just purchased a starlink dish and router with a rural special they have on at the moment for $200
The plans aren't exactly cheap but you can pause them month to month. Mine's mainly for use when we head north and I do need coverage to access emails for my business, pay wages etc, footy and maybe a little porn
Considering the rip off price for unstable wifi at Gnaraloo station this is a bargain.
It has coverage accross the entire continent, mate of mine who has it was watching the 2nd test in the pilbara outback no trouble at all.
Did a speed test today came in at 134 Mbps
Anyone else have it?

I just put down Gnaraloo
I just put down Gnaraloo originally BJ and changed it later to home here. If you go for the roaming package you can literally use it anywhere in the country.

I'm about to order it for the van. I know a few others that run it and apparently it's the way to go.
Was just up at Ningaloo over school holidays and reckon every second van had it set up on the beach.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

The thing I like is they've just simplified the whole thing and it's literally plug and play.
It's a spinout watch the dish align itself.

Mate has one
We took it up to Dirk Hartog ( Urchin Pt) in May . He got it for trip for exactly same purposes ( Business ) .Also previous trip we had a mech issue on one of the cars and it was an absolute pain if not impossible trying to find ph reception on top end of the island to call Denham and get parts sent over ....
We we used it for phone calls and also streaming ( watched footy on Kayo , youtubed music). Worked awesome , we put it out when we wanted to use it and put it away when not needed. Dish is small ( dont quote me but it was around 500 x 500 maybe if that so its pretty compact ) and sits on small stand. Hook it up and it rotates to find satelites / follows them around.
There is a website somewhere you can look up and see where the satelites are as they track above us . As Sea-Kem said its pretty much plug and play. We had it powered by generator so not sure around how you can do alternative power methods. All in all pretty cool .
If he didnt have one , I would certainly be getting one myself !

If you download the app it
If you download the app it give you all the diagnostics, speed tests and will even tell you if the dish is obstructed. Elon's boys have done their homework on this one.

Pausing
How does the pausing month to month work Andy? Surely you can't just use it for one month out of twelve (when you're on the annual trip).

Yep that's absolutely how it works. You buy the hardware and then the plan you want.

How does pause service work?
Option to pause service is available only to Mobile (Regional/Global) and Mobile Priority service plans.
Website:
Log into your account on starlink.com
Under "Your Starlinks", click "Manage"
Click "Pause Service"
Starlink App:
Make sure you are logged into your account on the Starlink App
Select the 'Person" icon
Select "Manage Subscription"
"Pause Service"
If you pause your service before the end of your current billing period, you will still receive service for the remainder of your billing period. When you un-pause your service, the monthly subscription fee will be charged immediately, on a pro-rated basis dependent on the plan monthly cost and time remaining on your pre-determined account billing cycle.

The Old Tap Dog sounds like he's got it sorted.
Sitting around watching porn with the blokes, not my idea of a fishing trip Brock O. Probably beats watching the Eagles though.
