Love the Snapper on the Wall
Great snapper but I would take the one on the wall home.

Bag limits
Wow ....10 as a bag limit , you lucky, lucky b-stards.
I can remember back when our bag limit was 8 , was it ever bigger than that ?

Research...
...makes you wonder if our fisheries dept does any. Are the fish in WA so genetically different that our bag limits have to be a fifth of what they are over east (where, incidentally, there are more people)?
I think the NSW bag limit for dolphinfish is 10, compared with 2 here. Rather than properly research, WA fisheries is simply over-legislating. Why can't they just admit that they have no idea how many fish are out there?

I agree, absolutely no
I agree, absolutely no scientific basis for a 2 fish limit on dollies! they fast breeding pellagics, makes you wonder at times!

It takes a strong fish to swim against the current. Even a dead one can float with it

dont think it is anything to
dont think it is anything to do with genetics mate.... their numbers are well thicker over there.......for whatever reason..... even more in new zealand hence the limit there is different to, esspecially size. Interesting to note that here in WA the size limit varies on where you are - 40cm is fair game in Jurien Bay and north? compared with 50cm metro limit.
I"m headed over to fish the bay in early nov, the season will be well and truly firing then :)

Breeding grounds
I'm thinking that the Pinks spawn in sheltered waters like Cockburn Sound and the Denham and Money mia gulf regions in WA.
Is it possible that the east (Vic) would have more spawning grounds for them and as a result more fish ?
The land of the long white cloud ,definately has more spawning grounds .
Just a thought !
