Starting to get the hang it / NT

Moved up to Darwin late last year to be closer to my daughter and on arrival had an amazing 2 weeks at the daly bagging my first and then 30 more Barra even dropping a monster on live bait wich  local was claiming well over a mtr.

apon moving to Darwin I started having real trouble finding good fish.

wrong tides in right places . Wrong place right tides. Never having any trouble getting on to good fish back home in wa it was really getting to me and a lot of other ppl were telling me that the territory is no fishing paradise but I was determind to prove the haters wrong.

so as you do you ask questions and listen carefully ( especially at the tackle shop) to where and more importantly ( when) ppl are getting these trophy fish. Well after a couply months I recon I'm starting to get the idea up here and here is a few good fish from the last month or so.... Cheers

 Honestly mate coming from

Sun, 2015-04-12 08:24

Honestly mate coming from margret river ( hot ) I got up just at end of the build up and I work on the roof . Couldn't believe how much a person can sweat... You are just constantly wet and hot... But on the plus side everything is just lush and green and beutiful ... The afternoons just turn torrential and I would just stand out side under the open end of the gutter with a bar of soap in the backyard . Give it ten minutes and you have forgotten about the heat... Also who can complain about catching Barra 10 mins from home because the rivers And creeks are up...

The most amazing storms you will see anywhere .... Oh and crazy lightning to boot.

Cracking the code indeed. Attention to detail certainly helps. Nice work.

Hi el dorado, nice place

Sun, 2015-04-12 17:18

Hi el dorado, nice place Darwin, just go up here myself 2 weeks ago. Nice fish by the way.
Looks like I will be up here for about 2 yeas on Inpex on 4&1 roster with every Sunday off, maybe catch up for a beer sometime or wet a line.
Tides are the biggest trigger when fishing up here, then you have the run off for the Barra etc it can make your head spin lol, think there must be some books out there that cover a lot about the tides and seasons.

 G'day mate , yeah definatly

Sun, 2015-04-12 22:19

G'day mate , yeah definatly tides are the go don't have too much trouble with Barra it was more or less fishing the harbour that was doing my head in but definitely getting it sussed as haven't had any fish less trips for a while .... The ground up here is what stuns me bloody no reef edges like home just gradient up and down gravel and coral in between mud . Got a card from boat shop with 800 marks so that helps plus a few mates have given up there fav spots when we are out... I try and fish bottom or baits on the neaps aswell as sampan and tommycut on the troll and head out away from the harbours and river mouths on springs .... Also good drain fishing the mud banks on springs... Had a cracker session this arvo chasing bait for tommorrow nights jewie tide must of caught 20 golden trev in 30 mins on hard body's with the Barra gear the school was huge and busting up everywhere with queenys carving them up ...

Def catch up for a beers mate and you can explain how you painted the dhuey stripes on the dugon your holding up in yu profile pic....
