Starting search for new boat

Hi all.

I am starting my search for a secondhand boat i can use with the two boys aged 7 and 10. Mostly keen to river and sound with a few trips up and down the cast in pretected waters. The boys love their fishing in the river, sqidding, crabbing and light line fishing and both are still developing sea legs. I drive a Honda CRV which is a 4 cylinder engine and all wheel drive. I am interested to hear what your suggestions might be. There are a lot of older boats around that i would think cost me money compared to a tinny and reliable engine. I am resonably handy on the tools and are not affraid of doing some work on a boat over time. Looking at purchasing early December.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am looking at spending about $4000-$5000 What should i expect to get?

Many thanks.

Regards

Xtreme Dave

Hey Dave

For your budget, you would probably end up with a 3.8-4.3m tiller steer dinghy with a newish engine. There are some forward steer dinghies with new mercuries 30hp going for about $4500 to $6000

Nothing wrong with a tiller steer, I know mine is very capable of going in the sound and is perfect for the river.

If you could stretch a bit this might be worth a look

Thanks to the boys above for the info and effort. I will be having a look at a few of the boats above. Some have been sold. The young boys are very excited and can't wait. There seems to be some good buys out there.

Cheers

Dave
