Check with the ranger about the track condition. It should have been graded by now.  If there is any rain forecast beforehand check to see if when they may close it.

First trip in there ? Or first trip taking the boat on the tracks ?

id say you will be touch n go with a 6m  there's a few  boggy hill climbs  and tight bits on the track,

let us know how you go tho  as I always wondered what the biggest trailer boat you could take in.

i think you will be dreaming

to think you will tow a 6m boat out to shelter bay most people launch at Denham and drive the boat over then drive the car and trailer in if you want to pull the boat out every night or just leave it on anchor at night.I have spent nearly 5 hrs one trip trying to get a twin axle box trailer over one of the dunes ,ended up empting the trailer and carrying everything over the dune not fun in 40 heat

 +1 for the dreamin' !

+1 for the dreamin' !  unless your tow vehicle is something out of the ordinary.

launch at denham.  trip across can take between 40 mins and 3 hours depending on you boat and the conditions.

take 2 - 3 additional big anchors and plenty of mooring rope.

we did it in may with two boats and 9 guys.  that meant 2 cars drove and left at denham, 2 x 4WDs towing small trailers into shelter bay (and they still had problems).

If it's one boat / one car and it's a dual cab or big station wagon, you might get away with launch at denham and someone drive in from there.

Agree...

Towing a large boat in there could be a risky adventure.
The first hill you come to can be tricky towing it up if there is someone coming out at the same time. A situation I would not like to be in.
We were there in May & had no problems towing in 2 x 1.5 ton camper trailers & kayaks.
Should be no probs at the moment with a tinny, but anything larger I would be launching at Denham.

Its not the softness of the sand I would be worried about

Gravel track is what gets graded, its the dunes which are the problem .

Plenty of tight corners on track to negotiate , its steep, overhanging branches and very bouncy , especially if you think you are going to drag a boat through there that size.If you get stuck not many places to turn around and you aren't going to be popular with others waiting to come back in or out after blocking track for a few hours.

If you haven't been there before, suggest you speak to others who have been on track and their thoughts. You are looking at some potential serious damage to boat and trailer if you think you can just power or winch yourself through it ...

Good luck either way mate , just saying make sure you are prepared for the worst case scenarios there....
