Wheatstone Landbased

I got some work there in October, what's the chance of finding some shore-based lure fun. Doesn't have to be big and not looking for a feed but would love to land some small queenies, trevs, jacks, whatever... Cheers in advance

Onslow

Like the whole NW, Onslow is very tidal. Not sure on where your accomodation is up there but there is a stack of different options.

Off the beach you can get your queenies and trevs and depending on if there is sand or mud flats just on the beach whiting etc.

The Ashburton river or Beadon creek are places to go for tidal hunters including Barra in season. I think Oct is a bit early for barra but.

I know south of the ashburton there are reef/rock close to the beach with cod etc on them but dont know if that is the same north of the river. Perhaps someone who has fished that north section could elaborate.

One thing that can be guaranteed is sharks.. Everywhere..

Wheatstone

I was up there a couple of years ago on Wheatstone and rules were couldn't fish anywhere without knowing a local, not sure if that was from the locals or chevron but I haven't heard of anyone fishing from site. Not sure if the bus runs go into town anymore as the site is pretty much self contained now so might find it hard to find some water mate. Sorry if that turns out to be the go.

Been there

and fished when you were allowed offsite. Then some pisswrecks were in town and shut it down for the rest. But i left 4 weeks ago and they were allowing the taxis back to the site, during set times, for a 6mth trial.

When you can get out of prison there is excellent fishing everywhere as Madmerv has mentioned.
