Steep point 2008 Well got back from my trip a little while ago but thought i would wait to post pics until the jan edition of hotbite came out :) We left for the 13 hour drive at 4.00pm tuedsay and arrived at the location 14 hours later due to getting bogged on some of the hardcore fourwheel driving sections. Once there we headed out in the dingy and trolled lures with no luck. We then bottom bounced for till sundown. We all landed nice pink snapper. Pretty much snapper and blue lined emperor foir the rest of the trip. Heres some pics i did :) Just a couple pics of my trip to shelter bay. More pics to come and with good fish in them :)

Great pics Marc. What fish are you pointing to on shore and did you land any LB, or all from the tinny?

Cheers guys,
Hlokk, thats my mate Matt ;) . I think he was pointing to schools of snapper that were cruising back and fwd up the beach.
We were very limited with the tinny due to most the days very choppy and rought and windy :(:(:(:(:(
We managed to get out a few times and got the snapper. We didnt really fish off the beach much only to get bait fish.
Will post up more pics when i get home. Loads of snapper but only 1 spanish mack only coz we couldnt get out past the fault line :(

I should have been able to guess. With photos like that you wouldnt be using the type of camera you'd let your mates go too many steps with, lol.

Nice pics. Adam, we were at false the same time and bagged out on spaniards in 3 days, had 3 days of pretty shitty weather where we didn't get much, one of the guys hooked a ~15kg GT with a nilsie which was pretty cool. Had a mate just get back and said the conditions were pretty shite and only got a few macks/pinkies.

Those sausage fish are hard to catch!
If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

already itching to get back there
It is only about 8 weeks since we were there and I am already missing the place. 1st time that I have been up that way but certainly won't be the last. Marc I reckon we start working on Darren and Matt go go again the same time this year?
About the only bad thing about this place are the "longdrop" dunnies!! You can smell them from about 100m away and it made your toes curl! hahaha
The trip was spot on, good company, good fishing and good times.

Hey StevO, Mate I would
Hey StevO,
Mate I would rather crap my pants than use those long drops. I did the ol dig a hole bush trick and that got me through.
Ash06,
If you take a tinnie up just be sure to get EVERYTHING checked on your trailer before you go. Take some spare bearings and some tools. We didn't have any drama's at all but we did plenty of prep work before hand. I would also recommend to get hold of an outboard engine support.
They sell them at good boat shops and it is a V shaped arm that sits under the outboard and goes down to the trailer. You can get spring loaded ones so it reduces shocks transfering up and bouncing your motor around all over the place.
The Snapper were mint when we cooked some up fresh on the beach at night with a cold beer!!

Nice pics
Sick mateeeeeeee!
That looks like Tamarla Station track where you camped, is that three bay island in the background? If so there is a artificle boat ramp that goes down from that rock point into the sea its as if it was man made. That is a great holiday destination you would have had a great time.
