What is steep point like in late December/early January? Is it pointless going up due to the wind?
Been before but in September/October

Very hot, very windy, you might get a very small window where the howling southerlys have a rest before they quick up again but that would just make it hotter

Spinning can be red hot if you time it right.

You are going in "primetime"
You are going in "primetime" do not give up your spot. We are going in November, a few week before primetime.
Do not worry about the wind, find a way to cast with it.

Will it be hot - YES
Will it be continual howling southerlies - YES
Will it be a heap better than staying home and doing gardening - UNDOUBTEDLY.
Highly reccommend taking a source of power and submersible pump so at least you can cool off under a salt water shower. If you don't have this, most of the other crews will have one and generally don't mind sharing, as long as you ask nicely! You'll quickly forget about the wind and heat when the drag starts screaming.....
