Poida is up at Steep point, the report at the end of Day 2 is 5 spaniards, 2 shark macks, fair few tuna, lots of noah bust offs, a monster wobbie off the wild side and another 7 days to go!
Should be a few good pics coming soon by the sounds of things. :)

What kind of gear do you
What kind of gear do you need for steep point?.....a fishing rod would be handy (sorry....I just couldn't resist)
Jay, I would think you'd take your stongest outfit possible. From the sounds of it you may need something along those lines. I would suggest taking 1000kg braided at the least :)))
Does sound like a pretty crazy sort of place. Definately must try it at least once in this lifetime.
I am sure some of the more serious fishos will be able to help answer your question....just ignore me. It's too late in the evening to be taking anything seriously from me.....

Jay for places like steep point you basicly need stand up game gear just with a longer rod - i use a penn inter 50tw with a custom sabre rod rated to 50lb of about 8 foot. ya need a little more lenth to clear some of the rocks and cliff area's. in saying that heaps of ppl use 651c alvey's on heavy 12 foot rods (8 or 9 wraps) and any lagre capasity reels should work but i find ya need about 700+ meters of line. i normally used to baloon out about 200 - 300m and the last time i went i still got spooled by a big tuna.

steep lures
Mainly lures doing the damage and an equal number on balloons for ballooners. Caught my biggest pinkie ever off the cliffs, got bag limit of macks on lures, nearly got pulled of a 50m cliff by a noah, fished a 90m cliff, had a ball, will post pics and report soon.
