Steep trip 29/2/1012

The day started off with an early departure for Steep point we left about 4am hoping to get up there with some daylight toset up camp. There were 4 of us going in 2 vechiles one landcruised towing a  trailor and another one towing a 5m plate boat. we were off. The drive up went pretty uneventfull untill we hit the soft harder part of the track into Steep itself and the old trailor just couldnt cut it about 22 kms short of camp

This made for a delay so we had to leave the trailor there for the time being and head for camp with the cars and boat. Once at camp we would set up and go back for the stuff in the trailor and collect the trailor at a later date as it was off the side of the track. This now meant 2 for setting up and 2 for recovering the rest of our gear out of the trailor.

no balloons today the boys could only fish the long drops with balloons the whole week we were there and the wind was only right 1 day to actually fish the point where many camp so if you were land based the conditions were tough luckly we had the boat and that gave us another element conditions were tough out there haha The fluger that didnt make it  although it was loaded to the hilt when it broke giving AAron a blood nose when she went and a nice little Trev on light gear. Dont get me wrong ever day wasnt like this but we did have pretty good conditions although 1 day i did resort to driving the boat with my dive mask on as i couldnt see without it.

we trooled the first 2 days without any mackies  we did get 1 tuna that went well in the red currie that night and a few bottom bashed snapper and baldies no big fish but still a feed and some for the freeza

The mackies we got was the day i drove the boat and we boated 6 in total a few smaller ones that swam off well and a couple fo the freezer here is one of the bigger ones

The nights were also up for fun we jioined the evening progresson as if we were going prawning in the swan river the boats lined up the bank in 40 / 60 feet and about dust the snapper were there and we caught lots of little ones and even dragged out the bream gear for some fun. most nights we decided to just fish the reef and get tailor for breaky wich we had a blast on thebream gear again

The trip was a blast with pleanty of fish no horses but a realy good trip and glad we dragged the boat up or we would have had it a whole lot tuffer. Ps the trailor was gone when we went back to remove it some one had already removed it for us. MENTAL NOTE FOR ANY ONE TRYING THIS TRIP TAKE A GOOD TRAILER WITH THE WHEEL BARINGS DONE DONT UNDERESTIMATE THE TRACK IN AS WE WERE 1 OF 3 TRAILERS THAT DIDNT MAKE THE TRIP IN AND OUT THAT WEEK.

Sounds like a fairly good trip   Never good with trailer break downs looks like a upgrade is required. Bit tough on the weather and fishing side of things but still a good time was had. Good report and photos

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
