Strange reel
Submitted by Colin Hay on Mon, 2008-05-19 14:50
I noticed a very strange description on a reel at a certain leading department store the other day. The reel was described as a Trolling Reel and was said to be ideal for catching snapper, morwong and a range of other bottom fish. No mention of surface fish that I could see. Thought it was a bit strange - but maybe I am wrong. (The reel is made by a pretty reputable company that has recently been acquired by a pretty well known US company that is big in the SP area)

Or it is a reel for extremely
speedy snappers and morwongs.

LOL Colin
Hope some poor husband or son doesn't ask for a trolling reel for Xmas and end up with this snapper, morwong reel if it is one.
As I said, it is from a pretty well kinown reel manufacturer. It was cheap as chips and I was almost tempted to buy it - before I read that it was for trolling for snapper.

Mabe you should have said someting to the attendents - or don't you think that would have been worthwhile?

Mate
Trying to find an attendant at that store would be like trolling for snappers. Ask Mako.

Good reels the Tiagras
I know a few people do the same Andy.
The thing with this reel is that it was boxed with a big Headline description of TROLLING REEL - and then below it it had - Ideal for catching snapper, Morwong, etc. with no mention of catching pelagics. And the company that made the reel - and the box it comes in - is a well known reel manufacturer of long standing.

Just go to a shop
where the first word starts with a B and the 2nd with a W. You will find it for about $41 I think. Good value for reel that versatile.

Went and had another look
It is called an A** G***** GT335. And according to the box, this trolling reel is good for catching flathead as well.

I think it must be a
made for B W job. I am sure that a company which makes good reels like they do wouldn't make such anm obvious mistake.
The other interesting thing is that it has harness lugs. Must be expecting some massive flatheads.
