Struggling when fishing new locations

I took a 1.5 hour road trip to fish a new location and really struggled with the fishing. Can anybody else relate to this? I really should do my homework before going to new places!

I'm about 5 days from moving to Pinjarra and am really looking forward to exploring the river through there as well as the Peel inlet. Though am expecting many a dry trip at first
