sunday lancelin
joe and i decided to take advantage of the plum weather on sunday and plan a quick run to lanno. We left at 4:30 am and put the boat in the water at around 5:30. Just as the sun was rising we headed around the first reef brake we saw a few mackies launching out of the water smashing bait. As we were a bit unorganized by the time our lures were in the water they had left us. We continued to head out to one of Joe's secret spots just lapping up the nice ride out and a beautiful sunrise when we seemed to run through a patch of flying fish, as this isnt unusal we just kept moving out until....... one flys out of the water, turns and SLAP smacks Joe square on the cheek. I was in histarics and had to stop to contain myself. We reached Joe's spot and sounded around untll we found the ledge he wanted and set the drift and droped our first lines. On the drop my jig was hit hard. Joe hit the bottom and instantly hooked up as well we both landed to good dhus second drift produced the same and a good size black bum. Did a few more drifts and boated all up 7 dhus and two black bums we called it a day on a couple of sambos and headed in to be back home buy 1:00.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

We also went out sunday off Lano and mannaged 1 10KG plus dhu, 3 Baldies, one Nannigai and 1 BB, headed back in at about 11 on the troll but did not get anything trolling. I saw those flying fish on the way out as well.
We fished spots from 38 - 90 meters.
