Sunday - Two rocks

Hit up Two rocks on Sunday

Weather forecast was average, but none the less, last chance to get out before the ban

Not a good sign when you rock up at the ramp at 9am and there are more boats coming back in than heading out. But we decided to try fish when the wind changed from east to South.

Super low tide made launching a bit of fun, and even more fun passing through the 3 mile.

I said to Scano we would hit up a couple marks i had not been on for ages, it wasnt as far out and we would see what the wind was going to do. Ended up being a good idea.

Sounded around for a a couple minutes and found a few fish.

Baited up, turned the boat around and punched back into the easterly (not a lot of fun), out with the sea anchor and down we went for the first drift

Had not been 2 minutes before Scano loaded up... His call was a Sting ray (Given we had caught a couple out there in the past). He gave it curry Palming the spool on the Saltiga S-Extreme on the combi Jerk.... 2 minutes later up popped this girl! big suprise, neither of us called a dhu

Estimated Weight 12-13 kilo

Good start so turned around and lined up the 2nd drift. Not 2 minutes again and Scano loaded up again &!%^*^$ This time loaded up big time. We called it for another big dhu and a few minutes later up came Scano's biggest dhu to date! a few dicey moments with it tangled in the sea anchor but in he came.

Weight around 16 kilo.

Not a bad start, 2 horse Dhu's in 2 drifts.

I was doing well as well, I'd landed 2 Seargent bakers for bait......

Decided one more drift was in order to see if anything different was down there.

3rd drift, both Scano and I hooked up. Not as big and we knew they were dhu's so they came up nice and slow. Both identical fish. One actually had a mega bait hook in its mouth, and on the previous drift Scano said he thought he felt his hook slip on the big boy he caught, but when it came up his bottom hook was missing which was a megabait. He had a double header, and luckily the smaller one broke off.

Scano's 3rd dhu in 3 drifts.

We moved on from this spot, as it was only holding dhu's.

Ended the day with 8 or 9 Dhu's all well over size except 1 or 2 from memory, 2 kept, a few BB's, 1 kept, 1 Harlequin and a few other bits and pieces.

True to the word, the worse the conditions the better the fishing! Sorry pic's are not the best, conditions didnt make it easy!

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Yeah was not the most

Tue, 2013-10-15 08:46

Yeah was not the most enjoyable day on the water weather wise. Wasnt too bad drifting with the sea anchor tho.

Actually put the nose of the boat through a wave about 13 mile out (following out the Easterly wind) and a couple thousand litres of water came into the boat.. not paying attention. always a good laugh when that happens. (only the 2nd time)

Was also a very very low tide. Not seen it so slow up at two rocks before. The swell was actually breaking across the entrance of the marina on the way back in and most of the 3 mile was breaking as well.
