Super Squid

Picked up this monster during a herring bash yesterday arvo.  Tube length checked in at 36cm and I think it was about 58cm from tip to the end of its smaller tentacles.

Can't wait for tea tonight!

Its a beauty alright. Its funny that it doesnt have the two long ''feeler'' tenticles that most squid have . I caught a nice feed the other day with the kids on board and all had the long tenticles.

Just thinking out loud.

cheers

Nice one

But I wont be brave enough holding that thing that way on what looks like a nice glass boat with clean upholstery. Even a purged squid make ink fast. Just the thought of it has me getting the spray and wipe out.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Sorry for the late replies

Sorry for the late replies guys:

Sav - it did have the longer tentacles mate, they just don't show up in the photos... they would have stretched to the end of the icebox if I'd laid them out properly, about 90-odd cm.  They were pretty impressive.

claymore - I think it was a Yamashita 3.5, but I can't tell you the style / model.

crasny - lol, I know what you're saying but I left him in the water while he cleaned himself out, he was like the Exxon Valdez mate the water was so black.

Ones that big could challenge the Oil spill in the gulf for production of black stuff.

Get heaps that size off the

Mon, 2011-05-09 14:20

Get heaps that size off the shore in a spot locally in rocko. Had em up to 40cm, never took photos though. I have a photo from last year when someone called me a liar and i went and nailed one 34cm hood and showed him....that easy. They make massive rings, take a bit longer to cook too. Only get 1 or 2 though, few and far between.

This year finding another spot produces 15 in a 60-90mins most nights, so been stocking up on bait lately. Haven't bothered with the moby dick eaters.
