Swan river lizards
Today i got bored of sitting at home and with the weather looking not great for tailor i set myself up with a new rod and some 3lb line, 6lb fluro leader and a few lures for my little sustain for small stuff after ive been using it with 12-15lb up at steep or tailor around the place.
bought a new daiwa generation black 1-2kg rod to suit my 2500 and armed with a few SX40's and Zip Baits i hit the river to try my luck at getting a few flathead on the flats. This is my second time trying for swan river flattys so i think i did fairly well for a novice at it in water that olny just cleared up.
managed a nice fish 5th cast that went 32 then over the next 2 hours picked up another 5 fish with one 25ish cm fish and the rest 30-42cm.
caught and released 6 flattys off the flats all on a SX40 before getting it snagged and losing it and calling it quits for the day.
always looking for a new challenge!!

Nice mate, I love my drunken
Nice mate, I love my drunken monkey too, didnt know they do a 2 piece now . Some nice lizards, get many blowies amongst them?
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

For what you pay for it the
For what you pay for it the rod is great. I just don't like the size of the grips and would rather a rod to suit a 1000 as I prefer to use them but this does just fine for now. Not a single blowie around either.

Never caught flattys before
Never caught flattys before on ultra light gear but they do go very hard once you move them a bit. Still no blowies after today's efforts, only got 1 fish at 54cm and a mate got a 32 for his first on lure. I'll put photos up later
