Telling people what to say? Don't even see where terboz comes close to that in this post to be honest & then to say he is a bully.... laughable mate.

One is a major chain Australia wide that fills its pockets where it can, the other is a local independent that goes out if its way for us blokes in the SW, bloody competitive in prices to boot & also sponsors this site looking after the FW community.

McConglomerate the rest of Australia attitude makes me sick to the core

Ok, I had to modify my original reply for a few reasons but looking at your post I need to ask a few questions.

"BCF keeps me and the crew all employed and we are all local"
An employer keeps you employed, well done. The fact you are local would be a given, unless they were looking at FIFO options for employees?

"All shops fill their pockets when they can they are there to make money that is why they exist local or not" Yep, whilst really simply & technically correct that business' needs profit to survive the comparison between the two ceases at that. I could be a right knob & jump on the soapbox to lecture about chain stores v independents v culture of Australia but most on here know it & so do you.

For me personally without the Cleggy's & Hal Harvey's of this world when I was younger I would doubt that my passion for fishing would be as strong (not withstanding my Uncle & Cuz who taught me & let me pester them at any opportunity). These guys stood for what I love about fishing, not some massive chain store that doesn't give a shit or in fact has much knowledge about it all. That's what I find weird about you Rat, you are a passionate young bloke that clearly loves his fishing & imparts knowledge when he can to others here. IMO you are wasted in the McGlobal scene & would flourish with independent tackle specialists but that's your call - your post above though does reek of the corporate rhetoric & I suspect they are not your own thoughts. Look at the local stores here, supporting a local web site for local fisherman & the community it develops.... where the phuck is BCF mate?

Geographe camping has one, pretty decent range of fishin gear to. I Find it pretty amusing the amount of people the will only shop at chain stores because they are under the impression they're cheaper, but where do the go when the want a donation for their kids sporting clubs or fundraising for community groups? Support the locals that support your community.

They often go to BCF for a donation aswell since BCF do actually do that kind of thing and do actually support local orgainizations.  IMO it is good to have 2 stores in town compitition in retail is a good thing, I shop at the compition quite often since it is good store, I also send ppl there if they have something we havn't got or if they have a product that works better ( such as yo-zuri squid jigs ). I know I am talking BCF up a bit here but I have to support the store that pays my income and the income of the other locals who work there.

Fri, 2013-08-02 07:33

If you are going to quote me then do it correctly or do your trolling elsewhere, quick scan of your posting history suggests that you are involved some way with BCF & love to push business that way when possible so there goes your credibility. However if you want to bait me then I will have a nibble

Chain Supermarkets - we grow our own veg & shop at farmer's markets, actually one of our local grocer's closed recently... couldn't compete against you greedy corporate fat cats bullying them. Get our meats from the two local butchers, fish from my freezer etc.

Fast food - shove it up ya clacker

Fuel - I will give you that, bloody hard to avoid but the siesta park servo supports local communities well so I support them

Very untalented individual that's happy to support my local rural community, personally that sits better than being a self righteous knob that tries to intimidate others who don't subscribe to your bullshit!

just because I don't post much doesn't mean im a troll. there is "some" people on here that post good ideas and information.... others just post a lot of dribble and bullshit, hence why I don't bother posting much. as for "looking after the local shops" I suppose people would if they weren't trying to rip em off so much and give shit service

cos you get fantastic service at BCF...

last time I went to Oceanside a few weeks ago, I went to buy some 3 way swivels and some whiting hooks. walked out about an hour later with a eupro jigging rod as well. why? cos Ryan, Josh and Blake where all there, they came to me when I picked up a rod, and they are all top blokes to talk shit with. they offered professional, educated advice, and they know their shit. talked about fishing, locations, etc, for about 45 mins after the sale. you DO NOT get that at any BCF.

Lamby nailed it

Fri, 2013-08-02 07:33

some things cant be avoided. tell me where else you can buy groceries other than IGA coles or woolies? the days of buying groceries at Charlie Carters or foodland are now gone, a direct result of not supporting local outlets, and also giving major chainstores the monopoly. we are now officially fucked in that department.

you wont find much specialised gear at BCF. some manufacturers baulk at supplying high end gear to chain stores. it brings down their reputation.

word on the street is, BCF had to buy a certain high end local tackle store, to enable them to stock a brand of high end reels, as the manufacturer did not want to BCF to sell them as it would have degraded their name.

there is a place for local tackle stores, and they should be supported at every opportunity. failure to do so will put us in the same coles/woollies situation.

Big tick

Fri, 2013-08-02 07:58

from me on those facts. Iknow one of the biggest market gardeners who also owns some big murphy sheds and they're always getting told by these FAT CAT chain stores that the bees dick slightly undersize or oversize carrots are NO good for their packaging. What a load of cods whollop.

What happens to them, oh, they get plowed in, Nothing short of a joke, then they have the hide to import UNKNOWN shit from china and the likes who spray whatever on the produce.

A lot of these chain stores are handy, for sure, but when one wants high end gear, it's either the net or a quality privately owned store .

Geez doesn't BCF get a

Fri, 2013-08-02 08:54

Geez doesn't BCF get a hammering, funny no-one has piped up about Tackle World either, watch ifish or ET and they are all flogging their preferred store, be it BCF, Tackle World or Anaconda. Local stores are great for knowledge and the personal service touch, but do they always help and offer better prices??? I know I have shopped in all of the stores mentioned, BCF, Tackle World, Anaconda, Oceanside, Campbells etc. They all have a place in the scheme of things.
Sometimes one will have something that the other doesn't, so I don't really fall into the only support local. I will shop wherever I like, to get what I want or need at the time. No-one on here can hand on heart say they have never bought something from the big chains. Sometimes it is just the way it goes. Be it bait, a packet of hooks a lure, rod or reel? Like I said I don't let anyone influence my decision of where to buy my gear...at the end of the day it is everyone's own choice as to where they shop. Even to the point of online shopping, can't say a few people haven't taken advantage in some way or another, be it an import boat when the dollar was good or some line. Once again everyone has their own opinions as to where they are going to spend their hard earned dollars.
I think it is a bit of poor form jumping on Jetty Rat for supporting his work place, good on him for having a bit of pride for where he works. I'm sure that any local stores employees would also support their own stores and take pride in their place of employ. All you have to do is look at Blake at Oceanside, he put's a lot of passion into serving us all because he takes pride in his work place and the job he does.
Sorry guy's but that is my rant over, as I said it is everyone's own choice as to where they shop.

I got to ask do the PPl at the other stores actually fish with the customers like I do. If I sell someone shit I cop a flogging out on the jetty, I have to be on the job even while fishing quite often. Not bagging Geo or Dunno here just asking ( I love geo camping BTW, they sell some great stuff )

Switch hands mate your right must be getting sore, site sponsors keep this site afloat if you don't like it then leave. You wouldn't have a clue about them or what they do for members of this site, CBF the epitome of fishing what a joke!

However one thing in their favour I now see they must be equal opportunity employers
