Tailor at mid-day

Headed down to a potentially good spot between sorrento and trigg at lunch time for a cast. As you can see by the lure the first cast got smashed and ripped the front single hook out of my new Hide Shallow. Next cast got hit by a decent fish in the white water and he ran hard, went 60+. Next cast and a 50+ came in, then the inevitable shut down after releasing them. Just as well, my 20lb leader was fraid to about 4lb by then.
Used a Samaki Zing rod, 2500 rarenium, Hide Shallow lure

Spook

You should measure more accurately. That 60+ looks closer to 65. But who is to argue as I dont bother measuring tailor nowaday because of the short bite they always seem to have. Get em off and back into em.

Cheers for the comments boys! Tell ya what its hard to get them to stay still while you try and get a decent pic of them before you release. I was watching them through the waves while I was trying to de-hook knowing once one has been hooked they shut down pretty quick, at least thats what I find with the larger, middle of the day fish.

Nice fish!! i Got up very early today and hit north beach area around sunrise hoping for similar.. Saw mass bait fish and bigger predators attacking but they were completely disinterested in everything I thee at them..metal slices, poppers, richter plugs, smilin jacks... Even tried soft plastics! Maybe bad time of day or wrong lures?? Would've loved to nail anything close to what you got! Good to know they are biting tho! I was frustrated haha.. That's fishing I suppose :)

Yeah shorething, sometimes they're just interested in everyting else but your lure hey! haha. If they dont hit at one spot I just keep walking, the more ground you cover the better your chances I reckon. I have seen them in a foot of water where you would never normally cast, you just never know.

Phew nice catch mate, i was down at trigg island around 12 yesterday throwing a roosta but didnt get any interest. Well, except buy the reef which cheerfully nabbed my lure when it got dunked by a wave.

Nice catch there mate, might have to do a bit of exploring myself to look for a few nice spots. Gotta love it when they grab the lure, run then jump, always gets me excited. Well done top metro catch.
