Short video of my pb Blue caught last week. 2700mm short length =185kg on chart. Insane strike, then an hours hard work to get him on the trace on 24kg.

Nothing gets the blood
Nothing gets the blood pumping more than a blue going nuts behind the boat.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

They certainly are something special.
Paul usually has an action cam running full time on looping video and a large battery when trolling, so he tends to capture the strike action. He's got even better ones than that, I'm going to get them all and put them together into one video.

A great piece of video
They are a beautiful looking fish, did it release well. You have got to be very happy with that catch.

Keep that hook in
You want to keep tension on the line and make sure the hook is set. Bit hard to tell from the video but it looked like the fish started to run at the boat, so you accelerate to keep that tension up. It also draws more line in the water which again helps maintain pressure.

Was coming straight at the boat. Want it in clear water and clear of the rest of the gear until you can get it cleared and stowed.

Yes, fish was running at the boat
you hear Paul yelling at Simon to GO Go Go when the fish turns towards the boat--blues often tend to run towards the boat in a circle , when the fish is running away at right angles the throttle comes off. With only 3 on board and four lines, the bloke on strike has the job of just getting one of the lines recovered before he picks up the fish.
Yes it did release well, was missing a bit of bark from running under the skeg at one stage. We swam him for a while and he went down nicely.

Great to hear that it was released
These great fish are to good to be caught only once, and I also have a soft spot for beautiful looking sports fish, I must be getting old.
